That’s right, I’m back once more! Just when you thought you finally got rid of me, here I am again. Wow, there is so much to talk about. I’ve missed so much. I can’t believe I’m actually blogging again. I thought when I quit it was for good. I guess I just couldn’t stay away. I would keep seeing things around the Internet that I wanted to blog about but then I would remember that I don’t have a blog anymore. So I guess that was one of the main driving forces behind me starting the blog back up.

    New Design

As you can see, I have a new design adorning the blog. Over the months I was away I started sketching out some ideas of a design I wanted to make. At first I wasn’t thinking of a design for a blog but as I progressed with the idea I decided that it would best suit a blog. My blog, to be more exact. Usually it wouldn’t take me so long to get a design together but since it was sort of a side project I was working on during my spare time I figured there was no rush. I wanted to do it great the first time. Well, as you can see, this is the outcome of those months of on-again off-again design work. I’m quite pleased with it and I hope my readers will be too.

You’ll also notice some new features I’ve added since the last iteration. I have added a post rating system and a social bookmarking system. They are some custom functions and modifications to existing functions. I may possible make them into some kind of script (or maybe a plugin for WordPress) and release them as a creation here. We’ll see what happens. Keep your eyes open…

    New Ideas

Oh man, I’ve had so many ideas for projects over the course of my absence. I just had no place to put them where they would be of any use to anyone. So this time around I’m planning on getting a few projects off the ground. Once that happens I plan to talk about them here. I also plan to put some of my creations into my new Creations section of the site. Also, I still have my Free Web Designs post from my last blogging endeavor and I plan to add some new designs to it. So be sure to keep an eye out for that. ;)

    A Life Un-Blogged

Living without blogging is a lot easier. You don’t have to worry about maintaining the site, what to blog about next, whether your thoughts are even worth posting, etc. But I can’t say it’s a whole lot more fun. When you blog you get to put your thoughts down in an organized manner and see what others think about it. Sometimes you even get praise for your thoughts/creations. Seeing as this is just my first post on the revived blog I can’t say if blogging will be any better this time around but I’m sure going to put in an effort. I just hope that some people will find my thoughts and creations even just a little bit useful. I don’t need to be some sort of blogging god. Just knowing that my thoughts and/or creations maybe helped someone or made someone think is enough for me. I hope I can achieve that.

    Additional Notes…

Just so there is no confusion, I know my site doesn’t work at all in Internet Explorer. That’s intentional. I’ve decided that I have no desire to support IE until it becomes more standards-compliant. The reasons my site doesn’t work in IE are not my fault but rather the fault of IE. So, if the time comes that IE starts supporting proper standards my site should automatically start working in IE. I know some will have problems with this idea but I’m going to keep it. This is my site so I can do with it as I choose. I would understand if this was a clients’ site and they wanted to support IE. But it’s not. This is my site. Besides, most of my readers are tech-savvy people to begin with so they know not to use IE. If you (or someone you know) use IE I strongly suggest you switch to using a more modern browser on a permanent basis. Once you use a better browser you’ll never go back to IE. ;)

On another note, there are one or two things wrong with the site in Opera and Safari for Windows. There are some extra spaces and extra lines where there shouldn’t be. That’s because I’m currently using the :last-child pseudo-class in my CSS to remove borders and padding/margin from the last children of some of the elements on my design. Opera and Safari for Windows do not yet support the :last-child pseudo-class. So I may need to end up going a different route to make it work properly in those browsers. We’ll see what happens…

    Good Times

Well, I’m very happy to be back. I hope to put up some interesting things on this blog in the future and I hope someone can enjoy it. I hope to have some good times ahead. Here’s to a great new life for this blog.

P.S. I’ve done my best to work out all the bugs in the new blog but if you find any please either post a comment or get in contact with me. Also please contact me if you have any problems getting around the new site. Thanks!

So you’re site doesn’t work in IE6 yet on webdeveloper forums in your sig it says you are a Web Designer/Developer? You do realize that more than 60% of surfers still use IE6 right?

Yes, I know the statistics. I am a web designer and developer. And if you read my post you would know that the only reason I have chosen to not support IE on my site is because it is just that, my site. If it were a clients site I would go to the extra trouble to make it work in IE. But, since this is my site I don’t feel the need to do so.

Hi James, great work on the new site. Didnt see the old one so nothing to compare it too. I am at college just now, and initially I opened the site in I.E… Doesn’t work well at all. I don’t blame for not supporting it with your personal site. I have taken exactly the same approach with mine. Anyway, look forward to working with you.

Not related that I know of, however have you thought of making websites for the iPhone? Stumbled on your site off of twitter.

Hmm… I haven’t ever really thought of that before… Perhaps it would be fun though…

Can you maybe explain a bit more about what exactly you mean?
