  • For WordPress? — 9 Comments — March 26th, 2008

Today I just want to get some input… I’ve been considering converting some of my better designs from my Free Web Designs post to WordPress themes. But, for me to do that I need to know which ones would be worth making into WordPress themes. So, I wanted to open it up to opinions. Which themes do you think would be best for WordPress? Once I get some good input I plan to work on making them into WordPress themes which I will release here on this site.

Also, if you would like to see one of these themes available for another system, or maybe even just as plain html not designed for any particular system, please let me know. I would be happy to look into making that happen.

    So, let me here you!

Well buddy, I read this post the other day and here I am again. After chatting with you before about your designs and hearing what other people have to say about the templates. In regards to making them “ready for the web”, after our little adventures with the VM idea I think we shoud still focus on that.

You know what i’m talking about and i’ll have a working prototype with you in the near future if you are interested. :)

Yeah, that will be great! Could even maybe make one of my designs the default for your system. :D

From what we worked on before, i’m thinking some thing very neutral for the default design. VM is still going to be the “company” behind all this. So either we use the layout from before, or work a new layout.

However i’m thinking two defaults would be nice :) .

P.S any chance you could remove my last name from the 1st comment, wasn’t thinking about the search engines. :Z

      Done!

Also, I agree with you. I can’t wait ’till it all comes together! :)

      Thanks mate,

Yes there has been alot of hard work gone into so far, but much more to come. I say we both have a couple of years before we are classified as old, so we could really get into this again.

I think we should re vive “dotProject” again to be our project manager.

Indeed! A way to manage our projects would be a very good thing. Otherwise it would be very hard to keep track of everything…

If we are going to be working on this locally, on different blocks. i.e comments, database driven menus etc we will need to be working with updated zips. So when a block is completed its uploaded then we can both have real time input.

I’ve just stumbled across your site, so I hope you’re still looking for input on this.

The designs I’d most like to see ported to WP would be Blue Clean, Simple Portfolio, and Light Blog. Blue Clean is elegantly simple. Simple Portfolio looks like the same basic design, just snazzed up a bit. And Light Blog looks fabulous. If I were using it, though, I’d want the ability to change the header image(s) depending on which page I’m on. (It’s way too big if it’s going to be the same on every page, in my opinion.) If you can build that into the theme, all the better. :)

      Nice work!

Shame on me! I totally missed your comment until now Rich. Sorry about that…

Anyway, thanks for the input! It really helps. I like those designs too. I just finished my WordPress plugin so making those designs into WordPress themes is next on my list.

Thanks again for the input. :)
